Changes to the training logs and and new types of routes
We made a few improvements to the training logs and added some new types of routes last night. We tested these changes in advance but if anyone has any problems please email here. When you email please include the browser you are using and operating system.
Big fan of this site, but why does it appear that mapometer no longer calculates the average mileage of my routes anymore?

Hi Chris
Do you mean pace (minutes per mile)? This was overlooked in the recent changes but we have had a lot of people mention it so I think we will have to bring it back. Bear with us for a month or two. James

yes, that’s what I was getting at. I now have to find an online calculator to work this out, which is a pain.
It was areally useful feature, so please bring it back!

yes, totally agree with Chris R. Have used your site since April 2009 and found it very useful, particularly pace which I am disappointed to see gone in the new version. Please bring it back ASAP

Will do but in the meantime please use Speed in the chart as it is shows the same thing. If you hover your mouse of the bars in the chart you see the actual speed.

Unfortunately by hovering over the bars in the chart it gives you how many miles you would run in an hour and not the average mile pace eg minutes per mile. This is what runners like to know. I prefer the old set up as it gave my average mileage pace. Please change it back.

Hi great to know minutes per mile is coming back, to me this was most interesting bit. Am I missing something with the bar graph? To me it seems useless, if you select distance on the dropdown bar it is obviously the same for average, maximum and minimum, this is also the case for speed. Am I missing something fundamentally obvious? Old system seemed simpler and told you more with less options!

Hi, If you do two runs in the same day (and chart by day) or same week (and chart by week) then average shows the average, not the total and similarly with minimum and maximimum. With distance the answers are meaningless but for speed / time it is useful. It does take a bit of getting used to but the new system shows much more than the old one did. We may tweak it in the future so that it doesn’t show meaningless results which I agree can be a bit confusing.
