Description

The 2018 Black Saturday 5k Run/Walk is held in Boone, NC located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. On the day of, Boone will be full of Appalachian State Spirit, as this race will be held the morning of Appalachian State's Football Game against Georgia State. The race is sponsored by Appalachian State University's: Recreation Management Association with proceeds benefiting the James Avant Academic Scholarship Endowment. The route will take participants through the scenic Greenway Trail, which is beloved by locals, students, and visitors alike, as it showcases some of the beauty Boone has to offer. The route will begin at the Beaver college of Health Science, Leon Levine Hall. The race is open to all people of any age and ability, so come out and support the Appalachian State Recreation Management Program and enjoy the High Country.

Event details and schedule

On the day of the race, November 17, 2018, make sure you arrive at The Beaver College of Health Sciece, Leon Levine Hall no later than 8:45am to ensure that all runners have ample time to sign in, receive their registration packages, and prepare for the race. Parking is available adjacent to the set up area. There are not ay parking vouchers necessary for these spaces. As weather is constantly changing in the High Country ensure that you are aware of the wether conditions for the day of and dress appropriately. When registering ensure you have completed all waivers and have a picture ID on hand. The race will start promptly at 9:00am, at which all racers should be ready at the starting line with their bibs. Following the race, there will be a awards ceremnoy followed by door prize drawings.
