Playa Agua Dulce: Circuito de Playas, Lima, Peru
Located in the heart of Lima, IRONMAN 70.3 Peru offers triathletes a unique experience in the South American event series, with a fast course by the sea, in the vibrant environment that only the gastronomic capital of the world can offer.
Peru is home to 12 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Nazca Lines, Machu Picchu, Cusco and the Historic Downtown of Lima, located only 20 minutes away from the event venue. Lima is a vibrant city, filled with a rich history and an exciting offering of museums, beaches and cuisine. A busy hub for international flights, Jorge Chavez Airport connects Lima with direct flights to many countries in North and South America, as well as Europe.
Participants will swim 1.2 miles (1.9K) in the Agua Dulce beach waters in the Pacific Ocean. Water temperature is expected to be between 66-70 degrees Fahrenheit (19-21 Celsius) and water conditions are very calm.
From transition, located in the Agua Dulce beach, participants will take on a fast 56-mile course (90K), featuring a very flat route along the beach circuit road “Costa Verde”. There, participants will need to complete four loops of the course, over wide roads that will be opened exclusively for bikes.
The running course consists of a 13.1-mile (21.1K) two-loop route over the beachfront path of the beach circuit. Offering views of Lima’s beautiful beaches, the course is mostly flat and fast and finishes on the beach at Agua Dulce beach, with a spectacular view of Lima’s skyline.
The 2019 IRONMAN 70.3 Peru offers 40 qualifying slots to the 2019 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France.
The 2019 IRONMAN 70.3 Peru will offer 25 additional slots dedicated to the Women for Tri initiative, applied across all female age group categories.
