Cheaha State Park: 19644 Hwy 281, Delta, United States
Bigfoot Biobash is a family friendly trail run and Conservation Festival at the beautiful Cheaha State Park. Come enjoy the day's events for all ages, and support Cheaha State Park! Proceeds from the event will support nature programs at the park.
The course is mainly comprised of trails, but there are also segments of the race on gravel and asphalt. The course is different than last year so the START AND FINISH LINE ARE IN THE SAME AREA. The 5K begins near Bunker Tower and continues north on Bunker Loop and onto the Cheaha Express (yellow blaze). The course then completes the Upper Spring Loop (green blaze), and connects back to Cheaha Express. Participants will then follow Bunker Loop Road to to Tower Road where the course takes runners to the one-of-a-kind Bigfoot Trail. This trail was built with help from the JSU Geography Club, and highlights the seven principles of Leave No Trace! The Bigfoot Trail finishes near the Observation Tower at the highest point in Alabama. Who doesn't want to say they outran Bigfoot while racing to the highest point in Alabama?
All participants in the 5K will receive a short-sleeve runner t-shirt if registered by 11/6/17. All participants in the 1 mile fun have the option to purchase a short-sleeve runner t-shirt by 11/6/17. Fun Run participants age 12 and under will receive a participation medal. Additional short sleeve t-shirts may be available for purchase.
Awards will be given to male and female winners in each age category. Age categories include: 11 & under; 12-15; 16-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65 & over
The 5K Trail Race will begin near Bunker Tower at 8:30 am. Fun run and awards will immediately follow. The 1 Mile Fun Run will begin from the 5K Finish Line near the Observation Tower. There will be a Conservation Festival open to all from 8:30am until 2 pm, and the Conservation Education Institute of the GA-AL Land Trust will be providing the 9th Annual Tellebration on the event stage at 11am.
Park entrance fee is included in early race registration, but confirmation email or admission pass must be shown at gate. Friends and family attending with runners must pay the park entrance fee. Follow signs to designated parking areas.
Packet pick up will be at Cheaha State Park at the Bald Rock Lodge, November 17, from 4pm until 8pm. Packets not picked up on Friday can be picked up at Cheaha State Park beginning at 7am on the day of the race.
