Bakas Equestrian Center and Bakas "Horses for Handicapped", Inc. are proud to present the Bakas 5K Trail Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk~Trot.  Participation in this event supports the therapeutic horseback riding programs provided to  children and adults with physical and developmental delay disabilites at Bakas Equestrian Center.  Bakas "Horses for Handicapped", Inc. is a 501(c) 3 non-profit whose sole purpose is to assist with the financial support of Bakas Equestrian Center.  Including equipment for riders, lessons, and horses. As well as continuation of education for our PATH certified instructors, some supplies for facility and summer camps, as well as assisting with sponsorships for those in need for lessons, to name a few. Additionally, Bakas "Horses for Handicapped", Inc. sponsors numerous social functions for riders and their families enabling them to participate in activities that enhance their overall well being.  These events include a rider banquet, holiday parties, Summer Social, Special Olympics competition, and Challenge Show.    

We challenge you to join us for our 5K trail run and 1 mile fun walk~trot.  The 5K trail run will take you off road through our scenic equestrian facility.  Enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna (plants and animals for you city folk) as you follow the trail around Whisper Lake and through our wooded property.  In the event that we experience rainy weather in the days before the race, be prepared, our trail run will become a mud run.  (At no extra charge, of course!)  The 1 mile fun walk~trot will take you along the unpaved entry road into Bakas.  Have fun while supporting a dedicated cause!

Registration/Check in: 7:30am-8:00am.

*Please note the access road will close at 8AM.

5K trail run begins at 8:15 a.m. 

1 mile walk~trot begins promptly after start of 5K


Access road to Bakas will be closed after 8:00 a.m. Be sure to allow yourself plenty of time for parking and check-in the day of the race!


Please note: GPS can be inaccurate in giving directions to our facility. The entrance to our facility is off of Racetrack Road and you will navigate through the Highland Park neighborhood to get to us. We will have directional signs to guide participants to the event location.
