Together we can transform the lives of all people with diabetes by working to find a cure, improving access to health care and protecting the rights of people with diabetes.‚Äč

During American Diabetes Month this November, the Kappa Lambda chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. at North Carolina State University is working with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) to fight against the deadly consequences of diabetes and fight for those affected by diabetes.  We invite you to join us for this one-of-a-kind event on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 7:30 a.m.

Whether you are living with diabetes, know someone living with diabetes, avid runners, casual walkers or none of the above, this feel good event is very important because of the support it provides to others in their diabetes journey.

The success of this event is a matter of life or death.  According to the ADA, in 2015, 30.3 million Americans, or 9.4% of the population, had diabetes.  Of the 30.3 million adults with diabetes, 23.1 million were diagnosed, and 7.2 million were undiagnosed.  Approximately 1.25 million American children and adults have type 1 diabetes.  Diabetes remains the 7th leading cause of death in the United States in 2015, with 79,535 death certificates listing it as the underlying cause of death, and a total of 252,806 death certificates listing diabetes as an underlying or contributing cause of death.

We hope you will help us make a difference. Help those living with diabetes in our community overcome the odds. Help us save even more lives this year. Proceeds raised by the race are donated to the American Diabetes Association.
