National Bullying Prevention Month; Why You Should Run
2017 marks the 11 year Anniversary of coming together against bullying; united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion. National Bullying Prevention Month is a campaign in the United States founded in 2006 by PACERS National Bullying Prevention Center. The campaign is held during the month of October and unites communities nationwide to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention.
PACER engages communities to recognize that bullying is a behavior that has affected too many for too long. Preventing bullying begins with creating social change with bullying being recognized as a serious issue that impacts educational performance, physical and emotional health, and student’s safety and well-being.
Every day, more than 160,000 children nationwide stay home from school to avoid being bullied. Not only are the effects of bullying on a child felt immediately, but they can also be lifelong – or even tragic. That’s why your community is reaching out for help to support the cause at the first ever Anti-Bullying Tornado 5K.
Come out to support our inaugural Anti-Bullying 5K run/walk at the New Braunfels VFW Post 7110 on Oct 8 at 9am. Registration begins at 8am. This event is to raise awareness of bullying within our schools and communities.
