Every year, approximately 200,000 Americans are diagnosed with breast cancer.  6-10% of those are diagnosed at Stage IV.  Stage IV (otherwise known as "metastatic" or "advanced" breast cancer) is cancer that has spread beyond the breast to other organs (lung, bone, liver and brain being the most common sites).  Though treatments are continuously improving, there remains no cure.  While wearing pink for education, prevention and early detection is important, only an estimated 2-5% of funds raised for breast cancer research are used towards metastatic disease.  It is predicted that approximately 41,000 American men and women will die from Stage IV breast cancer in 2017.

Enough of the statistical crap....let's get to the good stuff!

Beer4StageIV is a run/walk designed to play off of a "beer mile," except this event totals 4 miles or "Stages."  Each Stage will consist of a 0.5 mile out and back (total 1 mile) with a beer consumed (or "chugged"...don't worry, we won't make you drink the whole thing!) in between the Stage.  People can pay to participate in one or all of the Stages.  There is also a "team" option if you want to get some friends together!  Those individuals brave enough to tackle Stage IV will be timed! There will also be "Remission" for those not participating in the run/walk, but who wish to donate.  All proceeds from Beer4StageIV will go towards Stage IV breast cancer research/funding and will stay in Wisconsin by donation to Carbone Cancer Center at UW Hospital and Clinics in Madison.

Event will be capped at 100 participants!  Those who register by September 1st will get a t-shirt!

We hope to see you on September 30th for a fun, challenging event in a beautiful location!
