Wexford Town: Wexford Town, Wexford, Ireland
This will be the second running of the Ben5k. The first race was a fantastic success and the feedback was tremendous. 800 runners finished the race, soaked from the unscripted storm, but happy. We can guarantee that you will have a great time again, but the weather will still do its own thing.
The race will kick off at 10:00am sharp. All parking will be in Wexford County Council car park and the Department of Environment if we need overflow. Please ensure that you are there an hour before the race begins.
Refreshments will again be served in Wexford County Council after the race.
The course begins on the new road (Park Lane) close to the Faythe Harriers astro pitch. Entrants will run down to the Carcur Road and turn left towards town. After approximately 400 metres, the runners / walkers will make a u-turn at the traffic island and make their way back out the Carcur Road towards Ferrycarrig. At the Seamus Kelly Roiundabout, the course turns left on to the Old Hospital Road. Here, participants will encounter the one and only hill on the course. It’s sharp but it’s short and will be over before you know it! Athletes will make their way down the Old Hospital Road until they reach Ferrycarrig Bridge where they will turn right, run up the Carcur Road and head back up Park Lane, to the finish. It promises to be quite a fast course.
