Description

The Delaware Running Club's premiere event is the Delaware Open Cross Country Championships. These races are held the Saturday morning after Thanksgiving at Brandywine Creek State Park. This event is arguably the most competitive open running event in the state of Delaware. Cash prizes are awarded to winners of age beyond academic eligibility. Other winners receive trophies and gift certificates. The races consist of the following events:

  • 1.1 mile Boys
  • 1.1 mile Girls
  • 5 km Women’s Open and Masters (scored separately, run concurrently)
  • 5 km Men’s Masters
  • 5 km Men’s Open

Net proceeds from this event fund two $2000 college scholarships.   Details on the scholarships can be found via this link. Proceeds also support our Best Foot Forward shoe program for deserving local high school runners. Please note that Brandywine Creek State Park has changed their “season”, and charges $3 DE resident / $6 non-resident per car admission to the park.
