Inspired by the tragic events of October 26, 2013, when BCSO Deputy Robin Hopkins was shot by a man whose only intention was to injure and kill police officers, the First Responders 5k is intended to strengthen the relationships between first responders and the communities they serve. Police officers, firefighters, and paramedics will all participate in this event. The run serves as a day of remembrance for first responders who have been injured or who have fallen in the line of duty.  This event celebrates the perseverance of first responders and communities who have been impacted by tragedies. The event will feature speeches from first responders and community leaders.

All proceeds from this event will benefit the New Mexico Ten-82 fund, which provides support to first responders and their families.
