Brands Hatch: Fawkham, Longfield, United Kingdom
Revolve24 is an exciting global 24-hour cycle relay racing series combining iconic venues, leading edge technology and everything you need to allow you to focus on you and your team’s performance and enjoyment.
Our ultimate aim is to provide inspiring, extraordinary and affordable cycle relay events – our 6 Hour Challenge is a unique experience open to soloists and relay teams of 2. Imagine cycling on smooth asphalt with arduous climbs, exhilarating descents and fast sprints on a closed-road motor racing circuit!
We will return to Brands Hatch in September 2018 for our fourth year with our three Endurance Cycling Relays - 24, 12 and 6 hour challenges - all on the weekend of 15/16 September. We will also be announcing more exciting events to take place during the weekend - so watch this space!
Brands Hatch is one the United Kingdom’s most iconic motor racing circuits, having hosted 12 British Grand Prix between 1964 and 1986. It was also the venue for a number of the cycling races for the London 2012 Paralympic Games and currently holds many British and International racing events.
We are also excited to be running our inaugural event in Adelaide, Australia, in association with the Santos Tour Down Under taking place on 13/14 January 2018!
Revolve24’s Race Director, Simon Lillistone is a former pro cyclist, two-times Olympian and was the man responsible for the delivery of the cycling events at the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. Simon has developed the Revolve24 event format and rules to deliver the ultimate race for cyclists of all standards.
Team Format & Challenge
The Revolve24 6 Hour Relay is open to soloists and relay teams of two. Non-cycling Crew Members are also welcome to enter to provide strategy, support and encouragement and passes can be purchased at the end of the registration process. Whilst competing for category prizes, we also welcome folks looking for a personal challenge, teams looking for a fun morning of cycling and those hoping to raise funds for their personal charities.
To encourage training for Revolve24, the challenge begins well ahead of each event. We rank each soloist’s and each relay team’s training performance via the Revolve24. Using a closely guarded formula we award points averaged across the team for kilometres cycled, metres climbed, average speed, and award bonus points for consistency of training.
Once the red lights go out at the start of the challenge, you’ll get real-time performance data, individual and team tracking – you’ll know where you stand in the race for King/Queen of The Mountains, Fastest Lap, as well as Category and Overall Champion.
Sunday 16 September 2018
Registration opens at 07:00 on the Sunday morning and all Team Captains and Soloists will be expected to attend a briefing at prior to start of your Challenge. Parking is free to everyone.
The Grand Start of our 6 hour relay will be at 09:00 with each of the teams’ first riders’ bikes lined up in the Pit Lane.
This is when the strategy really starts to kick in, both for the soloists and for relay teams. How many laps for a soloist before a break and how many laps before a transition for a relay team member? During the transition the ‘baton’ – a slapband bracelet – must be passed to the next cyclist within the transition area in the Pit Lane.
Riders can compete for King/Queen of The Mountain, Fastest Lap and Overall/Category Champion.
To add to the Formula 1-style excitement there is a speed trap on the start/finish straight providing real-time speed data, and speed traps in the pits to ensure no speeding along the pit lane - time penalties in the transition area will be incurred for speeding!
Using the Revolve24 App and via the screens in the paddock area, everyone will be able to see their stats and position throughout the event.
At 15:00 your Challenge will be over and your attention will turn to the podium ceremony which will be held shortly afterwards to celebrate your achievements
