Description

The 6th Annual Swim Around Keppel 2026 (SAK2026) will be held on Great Keppel Island on Friday, July 24th - Saturday, July 25th

Friday 6km swim around The Middle Island.  start ~@10:30. And 1km ~@15:00 (Late ferry on Friday departures GKI @18:20)

A main & unique event, SAK2026 features a circumnavigation-style of Great Keppel Island swim route in tropical waters and covers a total distance of ~20km – one of Australia’s longest swimming marathons will take place Saturday, July 25th. ~@08:30 start

SAK2026 offers a few different swim categories – Individual & Tandem Swim for the 6km and 20km events and Team Relay for the 20km (teams of 3 to 5 swimmers, mixed genders are welcome). Persons aged 14 years and over on the 24th July, 2026 are eligible to register for the Individual & Tandem 20km SAK2026 event. Persons aged 12 years and over on the 24th July, 2026 are eligible to register for the team/relay 20km swim, as well as, 6km and shorted distances on Friday & Saturday.

To enter the Individual (20km) event, a person must have previous open water swimming experience and complete an official open water 10km race under 4 hours. For more information please check Event Info.

Due to the nature of this event, all individual swimmers must be accompanied by an assisting vessel. No motorised vessel is required but recommended for an individual swimmer and no SUPs are allowed, unless a swimmer has a motorised support vessel. Teams MUST be accompanied by a motorised support boat.   For more information please check Event Info.

KISA boats will be present and stationary every ~1.5 km throughout the course, and numerous KISA PWCs will be navigating. Course markers/buoys might be used.

Individual swimmers and teams will commence at the same time, ~08:30 at The Spit on Saturday, 25th of July and proceed in (to be determent) direction around the island to coincide with tidal movement. The swim will officially finish at 5:00pm.The Presentation and After Party will be held at the GKI Hideaway Island Bar & Bistro at 5:30pm. Late boat departure on the day is available, but…why would you want to leave..?
