The Maitai: Maitai Valley Road, Nelson, New Zealand
New for 2018 two options - The Original Dun Run 26km or The Long Dun Run 39km
Both courses will include the course from the Maitai Dam, ascend the Dun Mountain to the Coppermine Saddle (875m) following the south branch of the Maitai River.
Taking in the views from Coppermine Saddle and Windy Ridge it is a fast downhill along New Zealand's first railway line, returning to the OK Corral, Brook Street, Nelson.
This is a testing run - but not impossible.
The Long Course option will include all of the above with the addition of running the Maitai Valley and Maitai Dam Pipeline track, making for a testing but scenic challenge.

The Original Dun Run - 26 km trail run
Entry Fee: $65 - post event lunch is included
The minimum age of competitors is 16 years
The Long Dun Run - 39 km trail run
Entry Fee: $65 post event lunch is included
The minimum age of competitors is 18 years
The Original Dun Run starts at the Maitai Dam in wave starts, based on your honest half marathon estimate.
The Long Course Dun Run starts at the steps of the Nelson Cathedral central Nelson.
The entry criteria for The Original Dun Run is that you can complete a half marathon in under 2 hrs 45 mins.
The entry criteria for The Long Dun Run is that you can complete a half marathon in under 2 hours.
Transport will be available to the start - prebook when you enter online.
Check In and Race Pack Collection
Check in and race pack (race number and any pre-ordered merchandise) collection is at Migym Nelson - Bridge Street on Friday 31st Aug 5:30pm and Saturday 1st Sep morning
All competitors must carry the following minimum equipment on them at all times to cover all possible weather conditions:
* Polypropylene, or equivalent (eg woollen), top, hat and gloves
* Windproof parka/jacket
* Survival blanket
Please note that your gear must include a long sleeved garment.
There are no water stations on the course (this is a trail run) so you need to carry your own water with you.
Please note that for safety reasons use of ipod, mp3 player, Walkman or similar is not permitted.
Enjoy the surroundings of the Dun Mountain Area - the sounds are worth listening to as you enjoy your event.
