Description

Trutleman is the oldest triathlon in Minnesota.  The race took a brief hiatus when the lake levels declined.  In 2015, we brought the race back.  Lake levels are at an all time high and the beach and park have been completely renovated.  This lake gets very little traffic so it is one of the cleanest lakes in Minnesota.  This is the perfect race to move to the Olympic distance.  The one mile swim is an out and back, time trial start.  No pushing, punching or fighting for position here.  Water support comes in the form of life guards in the water, on boards and on boats; boats, jet skis and pontoons make this the safest swim you will ever make.  The bike course is relatively flat and two loops on quiet roads with plenty of room.  Spectators will have an opportunity to cheer you on as you pass the park for your second loop.  The paved trail run is absolutely gorgeous.  You couldn't ask for a prettier setting for a triathlon espeicially given how close it is to the metro.  It feels like you are in the country and your only minutes from either downtown.  Free parking is right across the street from the start.  Finish the race and enjoy the barbecue complete with watermelon.

Not ready to try the olympic distance, try the sprint.  This course can not be beat.  It truly is one of the most beautiful urban triathlons in Minnesota.  Turtleman is the second in the Sprint Triathlon Series and the Challenge Triathlon Series.
