Freeland SportsZone: 5690 Midland Rd., Freeland, United States
United Financial Credit Union is once again proud to present the 10thAnnual Freeland Walleye Festival Race for 2019!
Join several hundred participants in running and/or walking USATF sanctioned 10k and 5k Freeland Rail Trail/road courses. Or run along with the kids on a 1 Mile trail fun run course. The Walleye Fest race is moving back to the weekend this year and will take place on a Sunday morning! And THIS year, the 10K and 5K events will be separated out so runners can participate in BOTH events if desired.
Included with entry:
New this year, up to 75 runners will be able to participate in the Lunker 9.3 (6.2 mile and 3.1 mile combined distances) where they’ll run in both the 10K and 5K events at a rate less than should they register for both individually. We’re separating the 2 events with the 10K starting at 7:30AM and the 5K at 9:00AM. Lunker 9.3 participants will receive a pint glass signifying their accomplishment and a long sleeved tech shirt.
This race is being organized as part of the 34th annual Freeland Walleye Festival through a joint effort between United Financial Credit Union, TriToFinish, Walleye Festival Organizers and Tittabawassee Township with proceeds being placed back into the Freeland community through the Freeland Lions Club, a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
NOTE: This year's race is limited to 450 participants. Register NOW to reserve your spot!

Interested in volunteering? Events like this can’t be successful without great volunteers! Sign up HEREand we’ll be in touch. All volunteers receive a cool, TriToFinish logo’d tech t-shirt courtesy of ATS Printing in Bay City, MI!
REFUND AND TRANSFER POLICY
We completely understand that plans change and athletes will sometimes be unable to compete in an event they've signed up for. Unfortunately, refunds will not be provided for any event unless the event is cancelled for reasons within our control. Dangerous weather, natural disasters, and local emergencies are examples of reasons an event may be cancelled that are NOT within our control.
Should an athlete have an injury or other medical issue keeping them from competing in an event they've registered for, we would be happy to transfer their registration to a similar TriToFinish-owned event up to and including the same event the following season. A doctor's slip may be required as proof of injury or ailment. Failure to provide proof if requested will result in non-transfer of the event.
Transferring registrations to other athletes is NOT allowed.
What’s the scoop on the “LUNKER 9.3” event?
A number of runners want to run longer than 10 kilometers. We have separated out the 10K and 5K events to allow runners to do just that at the Walleye Fest Races! The upcharge of $10 pretty much covers the organizational cost of the added bibs/chips/timing and has been created to allow runners to do both races. Those participating will receive a LUNKER 9.3 Pint Glass and long sleeved tech shirt instead of the cotton blend event shirt.
Can I run with my dog?
We love dogs too! But, because of the narrow pathway being used as part of this race, we cannot allow dogs to participate.
Can I run/walk with a stroller?
The new racecourse utilizing out and back runner traffic on the Freeland Rail Trail means that we cannot allow strollers this year. We apologize to those who’ve raced this event in the past and hoped to use a stroller this year.
What does “USATF Sanctioning” mean?
It means that organizers have followed a process with USA Track & Field that requires creation of a safety plan and purchase of outstanding insurance covering participants, volunteers, sponsors, partners and organizers of the event. It also means that your race results will be official for scoring purposes (assuming you track that sort of thing).
What happens if the event is cancelled? Will I receive a refund?
If the race is cancelled for reasons Organizers can control then we will work diligently to provide a refund or transfer of registration to another event. However, cancellation due to extreme weather or local emergency is not controlled by organizers and is not reason for reimbursement. We WILL however, attempt to push start of the race back in 30-minute increments until the emergency dissipates.
