Highland Hike 100km
Highland Hike 50km
The Highland Hike Challenge is an extremely arduous endurance hike through the scenic Highlands of Scotland.
The Highland Hike 100km takes participants from the small fishing town of Ullapool in the North West of Scotland to Contin on the North East of Scotland less than 10 miles from the Cromarty Firth.
Participants can choose to walk as individuals or as part of a team either 50km or for those who would like to conquer the 100km challenge - by completing the 100km route in 24 hours.
Participants walk through the day and night covering various terrains.
This event is designed to be a tough challenge, testing participants both mentally and physically – participants will need to be fit and determined to conquer the terrain and the mental and physical exertion in order to succeed. We expect all participants to train sufficiently in advance as inadequate training will impact on your enjoyment of the event and your chances of completing it.
We plan the hike with weather conditions and moon phase in mind, but that doesn't mean participants couldn't still be exposed to bad weather at any time after all this is Scotland! It is vital participants are prepared for all conditions and as a helping hand we will provide you with a kit list along with other information on the website and once you have registered in your welcome pack.
The terrain will change and vary. The route includes terrains such as roads, farm tracks, forest tracks, raw countryside and more. It is quite possible that participants will encounter river crossings, peat bogs, heather fields and more. These types of terrains will surely make the hike all the more difficult and weather plays a huge factor on the ground and general conditions. What may seem a glorious sunny day on sea level can quickly turn to low cold temperatures over the hills.
The Highland Hike experience will be an unforgettable weekend which participants can share with friends new and old, family or colleagues and all will most certainly make memories to last forever.
All Highland Hike participants will also be raising vital awareness and funds to support our military personnel, veterans and their families.
